- Is East Richland Christian Schools chartered?
- Yes. Our school is chartered through the Ohio Department of Education and meets all of Ohio’s requirements. In addition, we are a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).
- Are your teachers certified?
- Yes. Our teachers and staff are dedicated professionals who seek to help young people see all of life through God’s eyes. All teachers are certified through the Ohio State Department of Education; additionally, many of our teachers also have certificates issued by the ACSI and several have or are working toward their master’s and doctoral degrees. Many of our departmental staff members are also credentialed and/or degreed in their discipline.
- What are the standard school hours?
- Every Monday our entire school operates on a one-hour delay due to teacher professional development.
- Preschool – 3rd grade (Monday): 9:00am – 3:00pm
- Preschool – 3rd grade (Tuesday – Friday): 8:00am – 3:00pm
- Grades 4 – 12 (Monday): 8:50am – 2:50pm
- Grades 4 – 12 (Tuesday – Friday): 7:50am – 2:50pm
- Is public school bus transportation available to East Richland Christian?
- Yes. Because our school is state chartered, our students may participate in public school transportation. For more specific information, please contact the transportation department of the public school district in which you reside.
- Do you have a hot lunch program?
- Yes, the hot lunch program is available M-F and is offered to students in grades K-12. The food is delivered to the school each day (not prepared on site). Each day of the week offers a different healthy meal selection; additionally, milk and juice are available for purchase M -F.
- How do you discipline your students?
- While we mostly use positive reinforcement, we do have a complete written discipline code.
- Does your school require uniforms or have a dress code?
- Yes, Kindergarten – 3rd grade has a specific uniform requirement for each day of the week. While grades 4 – 12 have a uniform requirement for chapel days (Wednesday), attire on the the other four days falls within a written dress code.
- Do you offer before or after school care?
- We do not have before or after school care; however, we start receiving students at 7:30am in all school buildings. This time also accommodates our early bus students.
- What curriculum do you use?
- We use a combination of Christian curriculum plus some carefully-screened secular materials/textbooks including Abeka, Christian Schools International Science, and Saxon Math.
- What type of standardized achievement tests do students take?
- The Iowa Assessments standardized tests are administered to students in Grades K-11 each year. Additionally, high school students are required to take end-of-course exams, however, we choose to take the state-approved alternative assessment. High School students are also highly encouraged to take the PSAT, SAT and ACT college placement tests.
- Am I required to attend church regularly?
- Each school family (regardless of grade) and each individual high school student is asked to attend a Bible-believing church and/or Sunday School on a regular basis (at least twice a month).
- Do you offer a variety of high school course tracts?
- Yes, the high school offers college and general tract courses, online Advanced Placement courses, Honors courses, and post-secondary option classes for college credit (through the State of Ohio College Credit Plus Program).
- Do your students participate in a graduation ceremony?
- Yes, there are graduation ceremonies for Kindergarten, 8th grade, and High School seniors.
- Do your high school students have the opportunity to receive scholarships for their college education?
- Yes. Our graduating classes are typically awarded scholarships that average $150,000 over a four-year period. Additionally, a local business sponsors a college scholarship exclusively for our students.
- Do your seniors receive a diploma when they graduate?
- Yes. Because we are state chartered, our seniors receive a diploma recognized by the Ohio Department of Education. Our diplomas are the same as those issued by public schools.
- What are some of the colleges and universities that your graduates attend/attended?
- To name a few: Malone College, Belmont College, Cedarville University, University of Cincinnati, Ohio University Eastern, Geneva College, Wheeling University, Columbus School of Art and Design, Wheaton College, Waynesburg University, and Mt. Vernon Nazarene University.
